Post Contruction Clean-up

Construction cleanups require knowledge and experience - it's not just cleaning glass. This is a very specialized type of window cleaning.

The selection of a skilled window cleaner is a vital step in the prevention of scratched glass. Construction window cleaning should never be attempted by anyone who is not qualified or specifically trained to safely remove construction debris from glass. Often plasterers, painters, and other tradesmen unsuccessfully attempt to fill this role. An experienced window cleaner needs to understand the issues of tempered glass and fabricating debris (see below)

Generally, window cleaners will use a razor blade to remove debris - but this is not the only solution. Different construction material on glass require different methods of removal. In order to adequately remove debris chemicals may be needed (not often) An experienced window cleaner must match the chemical to the debris to be removed and he must know if the chemical will cause a reaction with sill material.

What is Fabricating Debris? In short, Tempered glass can have a manufacturing flaw on one side of the glass that can possibly cause damage (scratching) to a window if a razor blade is used on that side The flaw is called fabricating debris and it is very small glass fragments that remain from the manufacturing process

If you have never heard of fabricating debris check out a bulletin put out by the IWCA. It gives a good description on Fabricating Debris.
